The drink seen in Monkey Island is as much a test of a pirates mettle as it is a refreshing drink. It is made of "a secret mixture that contains one or more of the following: Kerosene, Propylene Glycol, Artificial Sweeteners, Sulfuric Acid, Rum, Acetone, Battery Acid, red dye#2, Scumm, Axle grease and/or pepperoni".
It has been seen in most of the games.
- Diet Grog
- Cherry Grog
- Grog Classic
- Caffeine Free Grog
- Near Grog - A non alcoholic variant.
- Lite Grog: Guybrush Threepwood describes this as "like real grog, only without the taste, calories, or debilitating blackouts."
Monkey Island 1Edit
When asked about what was in grog, the Three Pirate leaders said the ingredients of the grog at the Scumm Bar include red dye no. 2 and battery acid. As such, the grog would dissolve the mug holding it if not imbibed soon enough.
The three pirates state that after Threepwood completes the three trials, he will drink grog amongst them. Once that he finished the three trials, the pirate leaders deserted the Scumm Bar after Governor Elaine Marley's kidnapping.
At Stan's used vessel Emporium, a vending machine offered Grog, Diet Grog, Cherry Grog, Grog Classic, Caffeine Free Grog, and Root Beer. This was a reference to the many flavours of Coca Cola.
Monkey Island 2 Edit
Threepwood orders some Grog on Scabb Island, but the Bartender did not beleive he was old enough. Guybrush's beard. He would have given him some near grog (tastes the same as grog, but with none of the alcohol), but his last bottle was already sold to Captain Kate Capsize.
Monkey Island 3 Edit
Guybrush Threepwood is able to order grog at the Goodsoup Hotel bar. He usually downs it after shouting 'skoal!'.
Monkey Island 4 Edit
