The The Goodsoup Plantation Resort Hotel and Casino, otherwise known as the Goodsoup Inn or Goodsoup Hotel, is a hotel owned by the prominent GoodSoup family on Blood Island.

Background[]

Back in its heyday, the hotel was the most popular in the family's empire of restaurant-resorts. Considering that the island had nothing more than a Lighthouse and a Windmill, the hotel was, a hotspot for various entertainment acts, and provided a good view of the island's once active volcano, Mount Acidophilus. Its most famous attraction was the barbecue, which could be found on the patio. The volcano would erupt almost every evening at 6, providing patrons with a view of the molten lava as it spews down a small man-made stream, which lit up the barbecue. Despite some 3-degree burns, people agreed that it was worth it. Griswold Goodsoup also provided entertainment by playing the piano an organizing keno sessions.

In the hotel there was a sealed-off room from which crashing sounds were heard that shook the building, followed by horrible screaming and cursing, then replaced by terrifying wailing and moaning. It was actually Charles DeGoulash who had trapped himself in his folding bed. Instead of helping the poor guy, Griswold thought that the room was haunted and elected to have it sealed off, for his sanity.

The hotel has since fallen into hard times after the volcano ceased erupting, possibly after the arrival of the Cannibals who pacified its god. Only Madame Xima remained as a regular patron, who freaked out the remaining customers.

In order to keep his business alive according to the long tradition of his family, Griswald never considered quitting the business. He tried pamphlets, stickers, extensive print campaigns, even putting his plasma sample in vials with a slogan about Blood Island. He also booked a moody juggler who talked about suffering for his art. He was so unpopular that when he burst to flame during a fire walking act, the crowd cheered.

By the time Guybrush Threepwood arrived on the island to find a cure to counteract Elaine Marley's curse, he learned that the inn was owned by one of the last Goodsoup surviving relatives, Griswold Goodsoup. Guybrush also found out that one particular room on the second floor had been boarded up.

When Guybrush inadvertently forced the volcano to erupt, Griswold was overjoyed. He speculated that the eruption would bring back tourists to the island, and help his flagging business.
